About the funder
The Ernst Abbe-Fonds is a foundation established in 1989 by the Carl Zeiss Foundation on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in Heidenheim an der Brenz, and is managed in trust to promote scientific research. It supports outstanding research in the fields of precision mechanics, optics, electronics, glass, and glass ceramics. The Carl Zeiss Foundation, sole shareholder of SCHOTT AG and Carl Zeiss AG, appoints members to the foundation’s advisory board. Key funding initiatives include the Otto Schott Research Award, endowed with €25,000 and awarded biennially, as well as the Carl Zeiss Award for Young Researchers.

Target groups
