About the funder

The Eugen Martin Foundation is a private law foundation established in 1997 by the Freiburg entrepreneur, honorary citizen, and recipient of the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit, Eugen Martin. Its purpose is to provide ongoing support for projects in the fields of education, upbringing, and culture in Freiburg and the surrounding region. The foundation primarily generates its income from the rental of foundation-owned properties (including a commercial park and a solar power system). Since its inception, the foundation has annually disbursed several hundred thousand euros for cultural restorations (including Freiburg Minster, Augustinermuseum) as well as for educational scholarships (e.g., UWC Robert Bosch College, Michael School Waldorf School, Sports Primary School).
