About the funder

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) is an executive agency of the European Union that manages and implements selected funding programmes on behalf of the European Commission in the fields of environment, climate, and transport infrastructure, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy. Within the powers conferred by the Commission, CINEA operates under its supervision and ensures the professional implementation, support, and monitoring of projects that contribute to achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal and the LIFE Regulation.

Mission & Vision

CINEA aims to make the planning, awarding, and management of EU funding in the fields of climate, environment, energy, and transport as efficient, transparent, and citizen-oriented as possible. The agency promotes innovation, capacity building, and the large-scale application of proven technologies and methods to support a sustainable, resilient, and climate-neutral economy in Europe and to improve the quality of life for citizens in the long term.

Target groups

CINEA's funding activities target a broad audience of potential project promoters and stakeholders in the EU Member States and associated countries. This includes, in particular, public administrations at the EU, national, and regional levels, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, cities and municipalities, as well as companies (including SMEs) that plan and implement projects in the fields of nature and environmental protection, circular economy, climate protection, climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility.
