FAGUS-Stiftung
About the funder
The FAGUS Foundation was established in 2004 by environmentalist Dieter Paul in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Its name is derived from the Latin word "Fagus" for the European beech, which is regarded as the "mother of the forest." The foundation supports projects focused on environmental and landscape conservation, particularly nature education work with children and youth. It backs regional and supra-regional initiatives aimed at promoting responsible use of natural resources and the protection of forest ecosystems.

Mission & Vision
The FAGUS Foundation is committed to fostering an understanding of environmental processes and the forest habitat among young people. Its purpose is to protect the natural foundations of life for humans, plants, and animals, and to promote comprehensive nature and landscape conservation both nationally and internationally. Through this, the foundation makes an important socio-political contribution by initiating and supporting educational projects in the field of forest pedagogy.
Target groups
The funding programs of the FAGUS Foundation are aimed at children and adolescents who are to be introduced to nature and landscape conservation through educational means; educational and care institutions such as schools and youth groups that implement forest and environmental education offerings; as well as local and supra-regional initiatives, associations, and organizations that carry out projects for the preservation and sustainable use of forest areas.
