About the funder
The Fasel Foundation was established in 1994 by the Duisburg entrepreneur Wilhelm Fasel and is a legal public foundation under civil law. It exclusively and directly pursues charitable and benevolent purposes and operates selflessly. The foundation's governing bodies are the board of directors and the advisory board; supervisory authority lies with the Düsseldorf District Government. The foundation is a member of the Association of German Foundations. Currently, it is committed to three foundation purposes: 1. Promotion of activities to overcome divisions and foster understanding between people and nations (in particular international encounters of young people in art and culture as well as student exchange programs); 2. Promotion of socially and benevolently recognized charitable activities (e.g., renovation of a tuberculosis children's sanatorium in Kaliningrad, support of social institutions in Duisburg); 3. Promotion of the idea of the social market economy (annual awarding of the Fasel Foundation Prize "Social Market Economy" with an endowment of €10,000).

Mission & Vision
The Fasel Foundation is committed to bridging social divides, promoting international exchange, and strengthening social solidarity. It aims to bring young people together through cultural encounters, support charitable projects, and sustainably establish the principles of a socially just and market-based order in Europe and beyond.
Target groups
The funding opportunities are primarily aimed at schools and youth groups in Duisburg and the Lower Rhine region, especially those with Eastern European partners, as well as at non-profit social and charitable organizations and individuals who have contributed to the idea of the social market economy. Funding applications can be submitted by individuals, groups, institutions, or schools wishing to implement projects in line with the foundation's objectives.
