About the funder

The Ferdinand and Charlotte Schimmelpfennig Foundation is an independent and non-profit foundation that has been providing material support to disadvantaged young people in their education since its establishment in 1986. With the aim of strengthening the right to education, improving equal opportunities, and promoting the future of young people, the foundation awards scholarships to pupils, students, and doctoral candidates up to the age of 30 – primarily in the Berlin/Brandenburg region.

Mission & Vision

Good education determines how we master the future and whether talents can develop. The foundation is convinced that education must be accessible to all people, regardless of origin or financial background. It strives for a society in which not only the state but all members of society take responsibility to enable equal opportunities in learning. Therefore, the foundation is committed to a strong and educated community.

Target groups

The foundation's funding programs are aimed at needy pupils, students, and doctoral candidates up to the age of 30 who are enrolled or admitted at German schools or universities, cannot otherwise cover their financial needs during their education, and primarily live or study in the Berlin/Brandenburg area.
