About the funder

The Friedrich Schiedel Foundation was established in 1986 by entrepreneur Friedrich Schiedel as a non-profit foundation under civil law in Munich. With an annual funding volume of approximately 800,000 euros, it supports social and scientific projects primarily in the Upper Swabian home region (Ravensburg district) and the Munich metropolitan area. Its funding areas include, among others, the professional and social integration of young refugees (funding program "Performance and Opportunity"), the establishment and support of kindergartens at the Technical University of Munich, talent promotion for young people, as well as institution-related funding of chairs and research projects at TUM (e.g., neuroscience, sociology of science). The foundation is a member of the Association of German Foundations and the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany.

Mission & Vision

The Friedrich Schiedel Foundation supports both social concerns and science and research as part of its foundation's purpose. It is committed to fair opportunities and integration of young refugees, support for children, adolescents, the elderly, and people in need, sustainable improvement of research and teaching structures at universities, as well as the transfer of scientific knowledge into societal practice.

Target groups

The funding measures of the Friedrich Schiedel Foundation are aimed at young refugees and people with a migration background up to 24 years of age, children and students at the Technical University of Munich (especially student parents and early childhood education), seniors and people in need of care in the Ravensburg region and the Munich metropolitan area, scientific institutes and chairs (primarily at the Technical University of Munich), as well as non-profit and social institutions in Upper Swabia and the Munich metropolitan area.
