Mission & Vision
"Enabling mobility and protecting the environment!" – The GDWS aims to ensure smooth and economical shipping traffic, to sustainably expand infrastructure, and at the same time to meet ecological concerns and the objectives of the Water Framework Directive. Through strategic partnerships and innovative concepts, it combines transport, water management, and environmental goals.
Target groups
The funding and service offerings of the GDWS are primarily aimed at stakeholders in inland and coastal shipping in Germany, including inland ship owners and companies, transshipment facility operators in combined transport, individuals interested in training and further education in the sector, as well as associations and municipal authorities from the fields of water management, water tourism, and recreational and sports shipping. In addition, waterway and shipping offices, new construction offices, and participants in planning and modernization projects on federal waterways benefit from the services and guidelines of the GDWS.
