About the funder

The Gerhard C. Starck Foundation is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, headquartered in Düsseldorf with an office in Willich. Founded by Renate Starck-Oberkoxholt in memory of her husband Gerhard C. Starck (1929–2000), the foundation supports particularly gifted young Jewish individuals from the German-speaking cultural area. It awards scholarships, publication subsidies, and provides family allowances. The aim is to financially support the vocational training and further education of pupils, students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers, and to establish an alumni network in which beneficiaries serve as mentors.

Mission & Vision

The Gerhard C. Starck Foundation is committed to supporting exceptionally talented young Jewish individuals who are connected to the German-speaking cultural sphere. Our goal is to secure their livelihood during education and training through scholarships and grants, to enable outstanding scientific and artistic achievements, and to establish a sustainable network of alumni and mentors.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Gerhard C. Starck Foundation are aimed at young Jewish individuals who belong to the German linguistic and cultural sphere or who have a high proficiency in the German language. Support is provided to pupils up to 22 years of age, students up to the 8th semester, as well as doctoral and postdoctoral candidates up to 35 years of age, provided they demonstrate exceptional talent through certificates and evaluations and submit a valid membership certificate from a Jewish community in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland.
