GLS Bank Stiftung

The GLS Bank Foundation is a non-profit initiative of GLS Bank and GLS Treuhand e. V., which has been committed since its founding in 2012 to a new, human-centered monetary and financial system. It raises public awareness of the central importance of money as a social and ecological instrument of design and finances socio-political engagement in the form of events (e.g., "Money Summit") and studies. Its endowment consists of shares in GLS Bank, whose interest and dividend income is fully allocated to charitable purposes.

Our mission is to make money visible as a driver of social and ecological progress. We support research, dialogue, and practical projects that question financial and monetary systems and develop alternative models. In this way, the GLS Bank Foundation aims to collaboratively shape pathways with actors from civil society, academia, and business in which money sustainably improves coexistence.

Funding is primarily provided to initiatives, organizations, and individuals aiming to implement innovative projects in the field of a new monetary and financial order. This includes critical research work, socio-political dialogue formats, and concrete project ideas that raise awareness of the social and ecological functions of money. Applications can be submitted by non-profit associations, NGOs, research institutions, and committed individuals.
