About the funder

The Gütersloh Foundation for the Mentally Ill and Intellectually Disabled was founded in March 1996 by Charlotte Schlemme and has been a non-profit foundation under civil law since September 27, 1999. Its purpose is the promotion of welfare and the support of individuals in need in the Gütersloh district who suffer from mental illnesses or intellectual disabilities. It provides funds for the mediation and maintenance of permanent jobs, for the long-term care and independence of those affected in their familiar environment, as well as the "Social Oscar" as an award for exemplary work.

Mission & Vision

"Every person wants to be needed" – The foundation aims to create opportunities for people with mental illnesses or intellectual disabilities, enabling them to participate equally in working, cultural, and social life, and to secure independent living in their familiar environment in the long term. In particular, it is committed to the professional integration of these target groups.
