About the funder
The Hanns Seidel Foundation e.V. is a party-affiliated, yet legally and organizationally independent political foundation of the CSU. Since its establishment in 1967, named after the former Bavarian Prime Minister and CSU Chairman Hanns Seidel, it has pursued the motto "In the service of democracy, peace, and development." Domestically – primarily in Bavaria – and in around 71 countries worldwide, the foundation conducts political education, maintains a network of research and think tanks, supports young academics through scholarships (currently around 1,600 beneficiaries), and promotes dialogue, good governance, and sustainable development in international projects.

Mission & Vision
The Hanns Seidel Foundation is committed to strengthening the liberal democratic constitutional order, anchoring Christian-social values, and fostering education for democracy. It promotes thorough political and social analysis, professional advice for political decision-makers, political education, as well as support for gifted individuals and young talent. Internationally, it is engaged in development projects aimed at combating poverty, reducing the causes of flight, and securing peace.
Target groups
The funding programs and educational offerings are aimed at politically interested and socially engaged individuals in Germany (especially Bavaria) and worldwide. This includes students, trainees, doctoral candidates, journalists, as well as young professionals and executives with above-average achievements and voluntary commitment. Furthermore, political decision-makers, civil society organizations, and international partners in developing countries benefit from the foundation's consulting, conferences, and projects.
