About the funder

The Heinz Bethge Foundation for Applied Electron Microscopy was established on July 8, 2011, in Halle (Saale). It is named after Prof. Dr. h.c. Heinz Bethge, who shaped the Institute of Solid State Physics and Electron Microscopy in Halle. The foundation supports research and teaching in the field of electron microscopy and materials science through awards (e.g., Heinz Bethge Prize for Materials Science, Young Investigator Award), scholarships, promotion of innovative projects, as well as the establishment and operation of a student laboratory "Electron Microscopy." Furthermore, it funds scientific events, publications, and collaboration between the university, Fraunhofer Institute, the city of Halle, and industrial partners.
