The foundation "Help for Families in Need – Foundation of the State of Brandenburg" is a public-law foundation of the State of Brandenburg. It provides tailored financial assistance to pregnant women and families with at least one child or a dependent relative in need of care, who reside in the State of Brandenburg and find themselves in an exceptional financial emergency. The foundation acts as a supplement to statutory benefits and private aid options and supports emergencies arising from accidents, illness, unemployment, over-indebtedness, separation, or impending homelessness. The administration of funds is carried out in cooperation with recognized counseling centers in the State of Brandenburg.

The foundation aims to provide uncomplicated and needs-based support to families and pregnant women facing severe financial hardship. It sees itself as a complementary pillar to state and private assistance programs and promotes equal opportunities for pregnant women and families in Brandenburg. Through transparent selection procedures and close cooperation with counseling centers, the foundation seeks to provide sustainable aid and empower affected individuals in their self-determination.

The funding programs are aimed at pregnant women residing in the state of Brandenburg who have fallen into financial hardship and have exhausted all legal and private sources of assistance. Families with at least one minor child or a dependent relative, whose primary residence is in the state of Brandenburg, are also supported if they have encountered financial difficulties due to unforeseen events such as accident, illness, unemployment, over-indebtedness, separation, or imminent homelessness.
