About the funder
innovatio – The Social Award is a competition for social projects run by faith-based organizations that distinguish themselves through innovative concepts in the areas of social cohesion, intergenerational cooperation, and socially just climate protection. The initiators are the Insurer in the Church Sector (VRK), the German Caritas Association, and Diakonie Germany. Since 2024, the award has recognized pioneering initiatives with a total of up to €15,000 across four categories: Main Prize (€6,000), two Secondary Prizes of €3,000 each, and the Audience Award (€3,000).

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to honor individuals and institutions that strengthen social cohesion with creative and courageous approaches, build bridges between generations, and make climate protection socially equitable. innovatio aims to provide impetus so that successful ideas become better known and find imitators.
Target groups
Eligible for funding are social projects of denominational sponsors (church, Caritas, Diakonie) whose planning phase is completed and whose implementation has already begun. Individuals, groups, or institutions are sought that develop new solutions for pressing social challenges through low-threshold, sustainable, or prototypical approaches.
