About the funder

The Joanes Foundation is a non-profit, legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Berlin, accredited by the Senate Department for Justice and Consumer Protection. It promotes the research and implementation of livable and affordable housing forms. With a network comprising academia, architecture, urban development, politics, and the real estate industry, the foundation initiates and supports projects and competitions that advance dignified housing as a fundamental element of an adequate standard of living.

Mission & Vision

TOGETHER – AT HOME – FUTURE. The Joanes Foundation is committed to shaping the coexistence of diverse people in a desirable way in the face of limited resources. It promotes cross-institutional cooperation in science and the arts to find and sustainably implement innovative solutions to pressing housing and land issues.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Joanes Foundation are aimed at researchers and research institutions in the fields of housing and urban development, architects, urban planners, as well as students of architecture and sociology, policy advisors and municipal decision-makers, companies and non-profit organizations in the real estate sector, as well as independent actors and initiatives developing concepts for affordable and cooperative housing.
