About the funder

The JoHo-Schängel Foundation was established at the end of 2010 by Prof. Dr. Joachim Hofmann-Göttig (known as JoHo) as a privately endowed, non-profit foundation with the support of additional donors (Sparkasse Koblenz, entrepreneur Joachim Deboeser). The purpose of the foundation is to promote science and research, education and upbringing, arts and culture, the environment, youth and elderly care, public health, as well as sports in Koblenz and the surrounding area. Since its founding, the foundation has generated revenues of approximately €258,022.85 by the end of 2024, of which about €95,985.63 came from the main donor and €162,037.22 from third parties. Since 2011, the JoHo-Schängel Foundation has supported a total of 200 projects with €127,810.50 in funding. The average funding per project amounts to €639, with the highest individual grant being €2,000 awarded to the Koblenz Ukraine Aid in 2022.

Mission & Vision

"Advancing Koblenz together" – the JoHo-Schängel-Stiftung supports compelling civic projects in Koblenz and the surrounding area to materially strengthen and publicly recognize social engagement in the fields of science, education, culture, environment, social and health services, as well as sports.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at individuals and institutions in Koblenz and the surrounding area from the fields of science and research, education and upbringing, art and culture, environment, youth and elderly care, public health, and sports. Projects that make an innovative contribution to the regional common good are supported.
