About the funder

The Kaufmann Foundation for Lübeck and the Baltic Sea Region is a non-profit, legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Lübeck. It was established in April 2004 by the merchants of Lübeck on the occasion of their 150th anniversary, together with co-founders and contributors. From an initial endowment of 260,000 euros, the foundation exclusively uses the interest income to support projects in the fields of education, upbringing, and international understanding in the Baltic Sea region. The aim is to strengthen commercial thinking in schools and to promote the exchange of young people through business simulation games, language courses, informational stays, and travel subsidies.
