Kinder-Hospiz Sternenbrücke
About the funder
Since May 2003, the Kinder-Hospiz Sternenbrücke in Hamburg has been supporting terminally ill children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 27, as well as their families, on their often long and challenging journey. In a protected temporary home, affected families find space for relief, closeness, and joy of life. The multiprofessional team, consisting of nursing, medicine, education, therapy, grief counseling, social law, administration, and volunteers, provides security and professional support – from palliative nursing care through psychosocial support to bereavement care. Approximately 87% of expenditures flow directly into family-centered care, with the remainder covering necessary administrative and infrastructure costs. Funding is largely provided through donations, endowments, and volunteer commitment.

Mission & Vision
We create a place where seriously ill children and their families find time, support, and security. Under the umbrella of professional palliative care and loving attention, we provide quality of life and relief – in life, in dying, and beyond. Empathy, reliability, quality, and appreciation guide our actions as we unite expertise and humanity as a non-profit community.
Target groups
Our services are aimed at families with children, adolescents, or young adults with a life-limiting illness. We support both the affected young individuals and their relatives – siblings, parents, and close caregivers – during respite stays, in the final phase of life, and throughout the bereavement period. The individual needs of each family are at the center of our work and are addressed with professional, psychosocial, and spiritual care.
