Kirchliche Stiftung Kunst- und Kulturgut in der Kirchenprovinz Sachsen
About the funder
The Church Foundation for Art and Cultural Heritage was established in February 1999 as a reliable partner of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany to promote the preservation and restoration of sacred artworks in approximately 4,000 churches in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Brandenburg, and Saxony. With expertise and commitment, the foundation has supported over 600 restoration and conservation projects to date – ranging from Baroque baptismal angels and Renaissance epitaphs to medieval altarpieces. It works closely with congregations, district church offices, restorers, and monument authorities. The foundation's assets amount to approximately €7.57 million, and for 2026, 24 projects are planned, each with a budget ranging from €5,000 to €20,000.

Mission & Vision
We preserve ecclesiastical art in Central Germany with expertise, commitment, and responsibility. Our goal is to make sacred artworks accessible to future generations as spiritual and cultural heritage and to keep churches vibrant as places of art and the Word. To this end, we strive for continuity in funding and plan to increasingly develop ecclesiastical art as a subject of education.
Target groups
The funding programs are aimed at congregations and church districts of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, which face the task of preserving their art and cultural heritage. Measures for the conservation and restoration of sacred objects from all periods, as well as projects for the mediation and accessibility of these works for the congregation and the public, are supported.
