Mission & Vision

The foundation aims to enable highly gifted Berliners and those with long-term residence in Berlin to pursue a worry-free university education through financial support. It promotes academic excellence in conjunction with social need and seeks to allow students and doctoral candidates to fully dedicate themselves to their scientific work.

Target groups

Students, doctoral candidates, and young people with concrete study intentions are supported, provided they were either born and raised in Berlin or have been residents of Berlin for at least eight years prior to the start of funding. Prerequisites include above-average academic or school performance as well as demonstrated social need for support. Funding is granted for the standard period of study or, as a rule, for two years of doctoral studies, with the possibility of a six-month extension in exceptional cases.
