About the funder

The Kulturstiftung Altes Land is a public foundation established in 1990 and based in Jork, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Altes Land region. It operates the Estebrügge Museum and supports projects in the fields of local heritage preservation and research, nature and monument conservation, history including family history, the maintenance of the Low German language, as well as folk customs and traditions. The foundation funds publications, scholarships, dissertations, acquires historical cultural assets, and increases its resources through donations and endowments.

Mission & Vision

The Kulturstiftung Altes Land aims to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Altes Land for its citizens, visitors, and future generations, providing an authentic insight into the development of this unique cultural landscape. Target groups

The target group consists of private individuals, associations, and institutions in the Altes Land – including the Hamburg areas in the Second and Third Mile – who plan and implement cultural projects in the fields of local heritage preservation, monument protection, research, language maintenance, customs, as well as historical and genealogical research. Funding is particularly provided for projects with a regional focus that offer sustainable benefits for the local population and cultural life.
