Kunststiftung Ruth Baumgarte
About the funder
The Ruth Baumgarte Art Foundation was established in 2012 by the artist Ruth Baumgarte (1923–2013) as a non-profit foundation. It researches, preserves, and manages the extensive oeuvre of the painter, draftsman, and graphic artist – ranging from paintings, watercolors, and drawings to illustrations. The foundation publishes a scholarly catalogue raisonné, organizes museum exhibitions both domestically and internationally, and administers the written and photographic estate. Additionally, it awards the highly endowed Ruth Baumgarte Art Prize to artists working figuratively and offers a doctoral scholarship for outstanding early-career researchers in the field of art history.
