The Arnsberg District Government is a modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly authority of the state intermediate level of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It represents the state government in its administrative district (South Westphalia and eastern Ruhr area) and consolidates the responsibilities of almost all state ministries. With around 2,000 employees at nine locations over an area of 8,000 km², it serves more than 3.5 million inhabitants and handles tasks ranging from occupational safety and environmental protection to energy, mining, and cultural promotion, as well as municipal supervision and economic development.

The District Government of Arnsberg sees itself as a responsible service provider that brings together state, municipal, and association interests. Its goal is to make complex decisions efficiently in close coordination with the ministries and regional stakeholders, as well as to promote the quality of life and sustainable development within its administrative district.

The funding program of the Arnsberg District Government is aimed at a broad target group: private individuals, clubs and associations, companies, schools and continuing education institutions, as well as municipalities, districts, and public institutions. The goal is to support projects and initiatives that strengthen regional identity, improve infrastructure, advance climate protection and the energy transition, or promote social and cultural participation.
