Department 2 – Culture, Education, Society, and Sports of the Office of the Salzburg State Government is the central funding and administrative body for Salzburg’s art and cultural promotion as well as for educational, social, and sports affairs. It shapes the framework conditions for project and annual funding based on the Salzburg Cultural Promotion Act and the associated guidelines. The goal is to support natural and legal persons in the implementation of cultural initiatives in Salzburg, taking into account European legal requirements (GBER) as well as principles of equal treatment and diversity.

Department 2 is committed to a diverse and sustainable promotion of art, culture, education, social initiatives, and sports in Salzburg. Its goal is to strengthen creative endeavors, optimize educational offerings, and foster cohesion and participation within society. Responsive funding management, transparent procedures, and the consideration of gender and diversity aspects form the core of its mission.

Natural and legal persons active in the fields of art and culture, education, society, and sports in Salzburg are eligible for funding. This includes individual artists, cultural enterprises, associations, initiatives, and institutions seeking to implement projects and annual programs. A written funding application prior to the start of the project and compliance with the funding criteria according to the General Guidelines for the Granting of Subsidies of the State of Salzburg are required.
