Department 2 – Culture, Education, Society, and Sports within the Office of the Salzburg State Government is responsible for the conception, coordination, and promotion of cultural, educational, social, and sports projects in the state of Salzburg. The department implements the Salzburg Cultural Funding Act as well as the General Guidelines for the Granting of Funding and publishes annual calls for proposals in various funding categories. It supports the application process, approves funds based on transparent criteria (including gender mainstreaming, diversity management), and ensures the proper administration and verification of fund usage.

Department 2 is committed to strengthening art and culture in Salzburg, expanding educational opportunities, promoting social cohesion, and supporting sporting activities. Through fair, transparent, and needs-oriented funding procedures, we aim to enable creative projects, social initiatives, as well as sports and educational programs, thereby sustainably enhancing the quality of life and diversity in the state of Salzburg.

Natural and legal persons based or operating within the federal state of Salzburg are eligible for funding. The programs target cultural practitioners, educational institutions, social initiatives, associations, and organizations from the cultural, educational, social, and sports sectors. A prerequisite for project funding is a written funding application submitted before the start of the project, as well as compliance with the applicable funding criteria and legal requirements.
