Leipziger Denkmalstiftung
About the funder
The Leipziger Denkmalstiftung is an independent, non-profit foundation based in Leipzig, founded in 2009 and active since 2010. Its mission is to promote the preservation of heritage-worthy buildings and local structures in Leipzig and throughout Central Germany. Where public authorities with their monument protection offices reach financial or organizational limits, the foundation supports private owners and municipalities through consultation, networking, development of new usage concepts, and financial assistance. In doing so, it builds bridges between public administrations, experts, owners, and committed citizens.

Mission & Vision
By preserving buildings and local structures worthy of preservation within their landscape context, the distinctiveness of the Central German region is to be strengthened. The foundation acts where public administration lacks the means and methods to prevent the loss of protected buildings. It supports owners in the conservation of their architectural monuments, develops creative new uses for historically valuable buildings, and promotes sustainable urban development in Leipzig and throughout Central Germany.
Target groups
The funding and advisory services are aimed at owners of listed buildings, municipalities, conservation professionals, as well as committed citizens in Leipzig and the central German federal states who wish to engage in monument protection, heritage conservation, and sustainable urban development. Public monument protection authorities and networks of experts and volunteers also benefit.
