Lugredu Stiftung

The Lugredu Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Gießen, which has been dedicated since March 2022 to the preservation and planting of native fruit trees in Central Hesse. Under the guiding principle "Saving Regional Fruit Trees," it finances and organizes planting campaigns, maintains traditional orchards, and provides environmental education for all age groups. Funding is secured through capital income, donations, membership fees in the support circle, and targeted "Donate a Tree" campaigns. To date, with the help of supporting members, 55 fruit trees of various varieties have already been planted.

The mission of the Lugredu Foundation is to reconnect people with nature and to raise awareness for the protection and care of native fruit tree diversity. It pursues an educational approach: through community planting activities, workshops, and public outreach, environmental awareness is to be strengthened and the preservation of old fruit varieties secured in the long term.

The offerings of the Lugredu Foundation are aimed at supporting members ("Blätter"), donors, and volunteers from the Central Hesse region who wish to actively engage in nature conservation and landscape management. This includes children, adolescents, and adults, schools, social institutions, and municipalities interested in environmental education, fruit tree cultivation, and community involvement.
