About the funder

The M.A.K. Foundation Marja & Armin Kretschmar Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation based in Wiesbaden, dedicated to the promotion of musical theatre. Founded by Marja and Armin Kretschmar, the foundation supports young directing talents through scholarships, pilot projects, and financial aid for needy emerging directors. Its projects include, among others, the EOP – European Opera Directing Prize. In cooperation with theaters, associations, and music cultural institutions, the M.A.K. Foundation is committed to preserving the artistic diversity of opera and embedding musical theatre as part of cultural identity in everyday life.

Mission & Vision

The M.A.K. Foundation sees itself as a catalyst for music theatre: We aim to support young directing talents, ensure the diversity and future of opera, and promote innovative projects.
