About the funder

The Madeleine Schickedanz Children’s Cancer Foundation was established in 1990 by Madeleine Schickedanz after her daughter Caroline survived leukemia. Under the motto “Research helps heal,” the foundation supports projects and clinical studies in pediatric cancer research nationwide. Since its inception, projects totaling approximately 12 million euros have been funded. The focus lies on prevention, early detection, innovative therapeutic approaches, aftercare, and psychosocial support for affected families.

Mission & Vision

The foundation is committed to improving the chances of cure for childhood cancers through targeted research funding. Every donation is intended to finance important research projects aimed at reducing mortality and ultimately enhancing the long-term quality of life for survivors. "Hope. Help. Future!" is the guiding principle and motivation to make cancer in childhood and adolescence conquerable.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at research institutes and clinics conducting projects and studies in pediatric cancer research; specialist groups in pediatric hematology and oncology; early-career scientists (e.g., fellowships); as well as families of children and adolescents with cancer, who receive comprehensive support from diagnosis through follow-up care.
