About the funder
The Main-Kinzig and Upper Hesse Foundation was established in December 2012 on the occasion of the 150th company anniversary of VR Bank Main-Kinzig-Büdingen eG with initial capital of 150,000 euros as a non-profit foundation under civil law. As a sponsoring institution, it brings together the efforts of local stakeholders to actively shape demographic change in the Main-Kinzig and Upper Hesse region. The foundation preferably supports projects in the fields of education and upbringing (particularly musical and cultural education, school sports, youth welfare), civic engagement (including elderly care, palliative and hospice services), fire, labor, disaster and civil protection, as well as sports, arts, culture, nature conservation, environmental and climate protection.

Mission & Vision
The Main-Kinzig- und Oberhessen-Stiftung is committed to sustainably improving the quality of life in its home region and addressing the challenges of demographic change through targeted project funding. It promotes self-initiative, voluntary engagement, and creative, long-term initiatives. As a foundation associated with a cooperative bank, it is guided by the values of social justice, economic responsibility, and environmental protection, as well as the international UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Target groups
Non-profit legal entities under public and private law as well as educational institutions in the Main-Kinzig and Oberhessen region are supported, provided they carry out projects with a clear connection to the foundation's objectives. This includes schools, daycare centers, and youth facilities; associations and initiatives in the social, cultural, and sports sectors; organizations for elderly care, palliative and hospice services; institutions for disaster and civil protection; as well as environmental and nature conservation projects.
