Margot Friedländer Stiftung

The Margot Friedländer Foundation was established in the summer of 2023 by Holocaust survivor Dr. h. c. Margot Friedländer. It pursues exclusively charitable purposes and continues the life’s work of its founder, who was committed to tolerance and humanity as well as to freedom and democracy. The foundation supports projects and initiatives that keep the knowledge of the Nazi crimes alive, strengthen engagement for democracy, and contribute to ensuring that "what happened then never happens again." The foundation is sponsored and patronized by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Margot Friedländer Foundation is committed to promoting the future of remembrance as well as the commitment to tolerance and humanity, freedom, and democracy. Through awards, educational projects, and public relations work, it aims to encourage both young and older people to actively oppose antisemitism, racism, and exclusion, and to bring the engagement with the Nazi dictatorship into the present.

The funding programs and awards of the Margot Friedländer Foundation are aimed at individuals, initiatives, associations, educational institutions, and other organizations in Germany that are particularly committed to addressing the Holocaust, promoting democracy education, and advocating against antisemitism and exclusion. The foundation recognizes projects with innovative approaches that keep the culture of remembrance alive and strengthen societal awareness of freedom and human rights.
