About the funder

The Maria Grönefeld Foundation for Christian Social Ethics and Social Practice was established in memory of Dr. Maria Grönefeld, a pioneer of political education in the Catholic labor movement. It keeps her legacy alive by supporting educational and social projects committed to justice, equal opportunities, and solidarity. Since 2014, the foundation has awarded the Maria Grönefeld Prize every two to three years to individuals dedicated to the workplace, disadvantaged families, unemployed youth, or the fairer participation opportunities for women. It cooperates with the Nell Breuning House in Herzogenrath as well as the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB) and the Christian Workers' Youth (CAJ).
