Markelstiftung
About the funder
The Markel Foundation is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Stuttgart. Since its establishment in 1920 by Dr. Karl Emil Markel, it has supported talented and economically disadvantaged young people, originally war orphans and children from difficult backgrounds after the First World War. In collaboration with personalities such as Theodor Bäuerle and supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation, it has developed a sustainable support model for pupils and students in Baden-Württemberg. Benefits are awarded exclusively based on the criteria of "talent, merit, and need." Since 1985, the foundation has also operated special programs for young people with a migration background.
