About the funder

The Menschen in Not – Caritas Foundation in the Diocese of Trier was established in 2004 by the Diocese of Trier and the Caritas Association for the Diocese of Trier e. V. It is a church-affiliated, non-profit foundation under civil law based in Trier and supports people who are dependent on assistance due to physical, mental, or financial disadvantages. The foundation provides individual case aid and promotes charitable projects both domestically and abroad, including family and youth welfare, health and disability assistance, as well as emergency aid in crisis regions. Mission & Vision

The Menschen in Not Foundation is committed to a society in which people in need are permanently supported through a Christian understanding of humanity and mutual care. Its goal is the sustainable assurance of charitable work with a focus on poverty alleviation, strengthening families, children, and youth, supporting people with disabilities, and integration at the margins of society.

Target groups

Support is provided to needy individuals and families in special emergency situations, as well as to charitable organizations and institutions within the Diocese of Trier. Applicants include Caritas associations, church parishes, counseling centers, and other Catholic agencies that assess needs and submit individual case assistance or project funding applications through the foundation. Special target groups are children, adolescents, single parents, people with disabilities, the mentally ill, seniors, as well as refugees and migrants.
