Michael Besler Stiftung
About the funder
The Michael Besler Foundation was established in memory of Michael Besler (1953–2012) by his partner Iracema Scharf. It supports trainees facing financial hardships that would otherwise force them to discontinue their training. The foundation provides straightforward grants to offer young people in health-related, social, or economic crises a perspective and the opportunity to successfully complete their training. Currently, the foundation supports approximately 30 trainees and works closely with school social workers, teachers, and school administrations.

Mission & Vision
The Michael Besler Foundation aims to remove financial barriers for trainees and enable them to lead a self-determined life and successfully complete their training. It believes that completing vocational training is the crucial building block for the future of young people—especially those who, due to health-related hardships, flight, addiction, or domestic violence, would otherwise be unable to continue their education.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Michael Besler Foundation are aimed at young trainees in Germany who are at risk in their training due to financial hardships, health-related setbacks, experiences of flight or violence, or family problems. The foundation supports individuals in all apprenticeship professions who would otherwise be unable to successfully complete their training due to insufficient training remuneration.
