The Michael and Claudia Borgolte Foundation for the Promotion of Historical Sciences is a non-independent foundation based in Berlin. It was established on August 28, 2012, by Claudia and Michael Borgolte; the Humboldt University of Berlin acts as trustee. The foundation supports historical sciences by annually awarding two prizes: the Otto Hintze Early Career Award (€3,000) for postdoctoral researchers at the Institute of Historical Sciences of Humboldt University, and the nationwide Medieval Prize (€10,000) for outstanding achievements in medieval historical research.

Promotion of science and research in the field of historical sciences, in particular through the recognition of outstanding early-career researchers as well as excellent achievements in medieval history in the German-speaking region.
