The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia is the highest state authority in Düsseldorf responsible for the development and implementation of policies in the areas of environment, agriculture, consumer protection, forestry, hunting and fisheries, as well as rural areas. On its website, the ministry offers extensive information on funding programs (particularly EU funding periods 2014–2022 and 2023–2027), agri-environmental measures, livestock management strategy (e.g., "Barn of the Future" or innovation cluster barn construction), regional marketing promotion, organic farming, village development, LEADER programs, and much more. Mission & Vision

The Ministry is committed to a future-oriented and sustainable development of rural areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its goal is to meet ecological and economic requirements in agriculture, strengthen environmental and climate protection, promote animal welfare, and at the same time ensure consumer protection. Through targeted funding measures and dialogue with stakeholders from agriculture, forestry, the food industry, and environmental protection, a trustworthy and innovative agricultural and environmental policy is to be shaped.

Target groups

The offers and funding programs of the Ministry are aimed at agricultural enterprises (arable and horticulture, animal husbandry), actors in the food and nutrition industry, forestry and fisheries sectors, municipalities and actors in rural areas (e.g., village and structural development, LEADER), organic farming partners, consumers in North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as organizations and institutions in environmental, nature, and animal protection.
