About the funder

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G) is a public law foundation established in 1877 and one of the most important institutions for design in Europe. With over 600,000 objects, its collection spans 9,000 years from ancient times to the present. The MK&G collects, preserves, researches, presents, and communicates tangible and intangible cultural heritage with regard to design-related questions. In addition to a permanent presentation of its diverse collection, the museum offers up to 15 special exhibitions, events, and projects annually on art, design, and socio-political topics.
