About the funder

The Musikstiftung St. Johannis is an independent ecclesiastical foundation based at the Neustädter Hof- and Stadtkirche St. Johannis in Hanover. Founded in autumn 2002 on the initiative of church music director Lothar Mohn and supported by an expert board of lawyers and tax advisors, the foundation has invested approximately €212,478.10 in concerts and vocal training since its inception. The foundation's goal is to secure the continuous promotion of major sacred and secular musical works by preserving and expanding a permanent endowment, and in particular to support the work of the Kantorei St. Johannis and the Senior Kantorei St. Johannis. The foundation is recognized as a non-profit organization by the Hannover-Nord tax office (tax number 25/207/26770) and cooperates closely with the Kantorei, whose projects it financially enables.

Mission & Vision

The Musikstiftung St. Johannis is committed to transforming the St. Johannis Church into a resonant space and enriching the musical life in Hanover. Our mission is to promote performances of significant choral and orchestral works, facilitate vocal training, and thereby spiritually and culturally strengthen people through music. By permanently preserving the foundation's capital, we ensure sustainable support across generations.

Target groups

The foundation is aimed at choirs, musicians, and church music enthusiasts in the Hanover region, particularly the members of the Kantorei St. Johannis and the Seniorenkantorei. In addition, worship service attendees, concert audiences, and supporters engaged in sacred and secular music benefit from the projects realized through the foundation.
