About the funder

The Niedersächsische Bingo-Umweltstiftung was established in 1989 as the Lower Saxony Environmental Foundation by the State of Lower Saxony and has officially borne the name "Niedersächsische Bingo-Stiftung für Umwelt und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit" since 2009. It is financed through funds from the gambling tax, particularly from the revenues of the "Bingo Environmental Lottery." The foundation supports projects in the fields of environmental and nature conservation, development cooperation, and monument preservation. A special purpose is the "Ems Fund," managed as a special asset, aimed at improving the overall ecological situation in the Ems-Dollart region. Key funding principles include sustainability, voluntary commitment, and practical relevance. Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations based in Lower Saxony; cross-border projects involving Lower Saxony may also be supported.
