About the funder
The Lower Saxony Association of Cities and Municipalities (NSGB) is the municipal umbrella organization for district-affiliated cities, municipalities, and collective municipalities in Lower Saxony. It represents the common interests of its more than 360 member municipalities vis-à-vis legislation and administration at the federal and state levels, advises its members on individual and specialized issues, and promotes regular exchange of experience. The area covered by its members comprises three-quarters of Lower Saxony's territory, with more than 3.4 million inhabitants. Its committees consist of full-time and honorary officeholders working together on an equal footing.

Mission & Vision
The NSGB is committed to strengthening municipal self-administration in Lower Saxony. Its mission is to effectively represent the interests of district-affiliated towns and municipalities vis-à-vis the federal government, state authorities, and other umbrella organizations, to help shape the framework conditions for efficient and future-oriented municipalities, and to promote democratic participation at the local level.
Target groups
The services and offerings of the NSGB are aimed at elected mayors, council members, as well as full-time and volunteer staff in the administrations of district-affiliated cities, municipalities, and collective municipalities in Lower Saxony. As a leading municipal association, the NSGB particularly supports municipal decision-making and committee structures through consultation, professional publications, and the organization of working groups and committees.
