About the funder

The Nikolaus Koch Foundation is a legally established foundation under civil law, founded in 1993 and based in Trier. It exclusively pursues charitable and benevolent purposes within the area of the former administrative district of Trier (today’s Trier region). Its main focuses are the promotion of vocational education, training, and further education – including at schools, charitable institutions, the University of Trier, and Trier University of Applied Sciences – youth welfare, as well as support for orphanages and institutions for people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The foundation operates across party lines, finances projects up to co-financing, manages its assets in a broadly diversified manner (including real estate), thereby ensuring consistent returns for its funding objectives.

Mission & Vision

Our goal is to promote equal opportunities and social participation in the Trier region. We support institutions and projects that advance vocational education, training, and further education, empower young people, and assist people with disabilities. By using our proceeds sustainably, we aim to improve educational opportunities and enable inclusion in the long term.

Target groups

Non-profit public law corporations and private associations in the area of the former administrative district of Trier (current Trier region) are supported. This includes schools and daycare centers, vocational training institutions and continuing education institutes, the University of Trier and Trier University of Applied Sciences, youth welfare institutions as well as orphanages, institutions for people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, and particularly gifted students (scholarships).
