About the funder
The Norddeutsche Stiftung für Umwelt und Entwicklung (NUE) is a public foundation under private law, founded in 1999 by environmental and One World organizations from Northern Germany. The foundation is based in Dornum (Lower Saxony), with its primary area of activity in Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Using proceeds from the BINGO! Environmental Lottery and additional third-party funds, NUE supports projects in nature and environmental conservation, development cooperation, as well as related educational and public relations work. Since its establishment, it has supported more than 5,400 projects with a total volume exceeding €50 million.

Mission & Vision
The NUE unites environmental and development interests in a global partnership in accordance with Agenda 21 and the Sustainable Development Goals. Its aim is to secure basic needs, improve living standards, and sustainably protect ecosystems through financial support and conceptual guidance—locally on site and with global impact.
Target groups
Eligible to apply are non-profit, tax-privileged corporations (associations and foundations) as well as public-law institutions based in Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Funded are projects in nature and environmental protection, development cooperation, One World work, and the associated educational and public relations activities. The focus is on voluntary engagement on site.
