About the funder

The Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung was established in 1995 as a cultural foundation by the East German Savings Banks Association and its member savings banks in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt. It promotes, supports, and accompanies artistic and cultural projects in the fields of visual arts, music, literature, performing arts, museums, and monument preservation. Since its founding, over 2,680 projects have been funded, supported, or realized with more than 124 million euros from asset income, PS lottery earmarked proceeds, and project-related additional donations.

Mission & Vision

"Preserve. Strengthen. Inspire." describes the mission of the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung: It is committed, alone or together with public and volunteer cultural initiatives, to making masterful and exemplary achievements visible in both urban and rural areas. From art and music to literature, theater, cultural history, and monument preservation, it is dedicated to supporting talent development and cultural education.

Target groups

Eligible to apply are legal entities and natural persons recognized as non-profit with their business or residence in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, or Saxony-Anhalt. The funding is aimed at professional cultural institutions, museums, associations, and initiatives that intend to implement artistic and cultural-historical projects of regional or supra-regional significance.
