About the funder

The Otto & Maria Herrmann Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the artistic works of Otto Herrmann (1899–1995) as well as the safeguarding of the shared life history of the couple. Its archive comprises over 1,000 oil paintings, mixed media works, lithographs, drawings, furniture, and utensils from Otto Herrmann’s former studio, along with parts of the private library. Through exhibitions and publications, the foundation makes the works accessible to the public; the archive is available to interested parties by appointment.

Mission & Vision

The Otto & Maria Herrmann Foundation aims to comprehensively document and preserve the oeuvre of Otto Herrmann, to make his visual language and critical perspective on humanity and society accessible to a broad audience through exhibitions and publications, and to commemorate the commitment of Maria Herrmann as an early social worker and supporter of his work.

Target groups

The foundation is aimed at art historians, galleries and museums, art collectors and patrons of contemporary art, young artists and institutions dealing with artistic estates, as well as art-interested members of the public and circle of friends who wish to support the foundation's work both ideologically and financially.
