About the funder
The Passau University Foundation is a legally capable public foundation under civil law based in Passau. Since its establishment in 1994, it has promoted research and teaching at the University of Passau, supported members of the university—particularly students in social hardship—and strengthened the relationships between business, politics, and science throughout the entire East Bavarian region. The initial capital amounted to 500,000 DM (approx. €255,000) at the time of its founding and has grown to around €2 million.

Mission & Vision
The Passau University Foundation exclusively and directly pursues charitable purposes. It supplements public funding to make research and teaching at the University of Passau more efficient, to promote independent profile development, and to alleviate social hardships of university members. Through targeted financial support, it enables profile-shaping initiatives and unbureaucratic assistance in emergencies.
