The Private Foundation Ewald Marquardt for Science and Technology, Art and Culture was established on December 23, 1998, in Rietheim. As a non-profit institution, it supports scientific, charitable, and cultural causes. With an interdisciplinary approach, the foundation promotes pioneering innovation projects in electrical engineering, control and regulation technology, as well as artistic and cultural endeavors. Furthermore, it awards grants to non-profit projects at both national and international levels. Inspired by the universal genius Leonardo da Vinci and the philosopher of history Ibn Khaldun, the foundation combines rationality and emotion to ensure long-term economic competitiveness and cultural rootedness.

The foundation has made it its mission to promote science and technology interdisciplinarily alongside art, culture, and social institutions. Our goal is to secure future economic success and competitiveness through innovative developments while simultaneously strengthening cultural diversity and social integration. We believe in the creative spirit that uniquely unites the rational and the emotional.

The funding programs are aimed at: scientists and engineers from Baden-Württemberg who develop innovative products and processes in electrical switching, control, and regulation technology; artists and cultural workers who enrich cultural life with creative projects; as well as non-profit organizations and projects nationally and internationally that pursue social or societal causes.
