About the funder
The Government of Swabia is a state funding authority based in Augsburg. Established in 1817, it serves as a "central coordinating authority" linking the Bavarian state ministries with subordinate agencies such as district offices within the administrative region of Swabia. Its responsibilities include municipal supervision, allocation of funding from state, federal, and EU sources, approval of major projects, school and teacher oversight, environmental and health protection, commercial supervision, as well as spatial planning and economic development. The authority employs approximately 600 staff members and is subordinate to the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

Mission & Vision
The Government of Swabia consolidates and coordinates state administration in the Swabia administrative district. As the regional representative of the Free State of Bavaria, it ensures the balanced execution of state duties, advises subordinate authorities and municipalities, protects citizens through supervision and approval, and allocates funding in the region according to needs and regulations.
