RheinEnergie Stiftung (Köln)

Private foundation

About the funder

The RheinEnergie Foundation unites three legally independent, non-profit foundations (Culture, Family and Youth/Profession, Science) with the overarching goal of sustainably promoting innovative projects in Cologne and the surrounding region. Since 2006, income generated from the foundation capital of RheinEnergie AG has supported initiatives in the fields of cultural education, social participation, science, and the transition from school to career. The foundation sees itself as a catalyst for model projects and community work, for example within the framework of the initiative "Together in the Neighborhood."

Mission & Vision

The RheinEnergie Foundation promotes charitable engagement in Cologne and the surrounding area by opening up new perspectives for children, young people, and families. We are committed to artistic diversity, social participation, and scientific research. Through temporary seed funding, we strengthen projects with a model character where no funding structures have existed before, and build bridges between civil society, science, and municipalities.

Target groups

Non-profit institutions, associations, and initiatives based in the RheinEnergie supply area are supported; artists, cultural workers, and educational providers who implement cultural education programs, especially for children and young people; providers of independent youth welfare, church and social institutions that support families in difficult life situations or accompany the transition from school to work; as well as Cologne universities and research institutions (in particular the University of Cologne and the Technical University of Cologne) for scientific projects.
